BLACK PEPPER-BASIL

BLACK PEPPER (Piper nigrum) Black pepper is an excellent remedy one can take at the first sign of most diseases. Yogis consider black pepper to be one of nature's most perfect foods and useful not only to cure disease but also as preventive,taking a dose of seven peppercorns ground (one-eight teaspoon power) and mixed with honey each morning. The mixture of pepper and honey is useful to overcome cold mucous diseases and sore throats.When treating acute diseases it may be used three to four times a day. BASIL (Ocimum basilicum) Sweet basil is good to use as a tea for indigestion,fever,colds,flu,kidney and bladder troubles,head-aches,cramps,nausea,vomiting,constipation and nervous conditions. Its medicinal properties include carminative,antipyretic,stimulant,alterative,diuretic and nervine. A tea made of one ounce basil leaves to a pint of water simmered for twenty minutes with three powered black peppercorns per cup will be effective for most fevers.

CLOVES (Syzgium aromaticum) Cloves are stimulating aromatic buds of the cloves tree and are effective in warming the body,increasing circulation,improving digestion and treating flatulence,vomiting and nausea. They will also help the action of other medicines. Allspice (Pimenta officinalis) has a very similar action and may be substituted. Add cloves or allspice to any herbal formula requiring a stimulant. Oil of cloves gives quick relief for this purpose. NUTMEG CMyristica fragans) A smile amount of nutmeg,about the size of a pea,can be taken once daily over a long period to relieve chronic nervous disorders and heart problems. It may be added to milk and baked fruits and desserts to help digestion and relieve nausea. Large doses can be poisonous and may cause miscarriage.

THE POWER OF GARLIC

Garlic(Allium sativum) Garlic is a world-renowned cure-all highly espoused as a home remedy in practically every culture. It has the properties of being an alterative,stimulant,diaphoretic,expectorant,antispasmodic,antibiotic,nervine,carminative and vulnerary,to mention some of the more outstanding characteristics. Garlic shouldn't be boiled. The fresh juice is the most effective preparation. For nervous spasms,cramps and scizures,crush one clove of garlic in a glass of hot milk. For high blood pressure,take one clove of garlic each morning. Prepare oil of garlic by placing eight ounces of peeled minced garlic in a whole mouthed jar with enough olive oil to cover. Close tightly and shake a few times each day;allow to stand in a warm place for three days. Press and strain it though an unbleached muslin or cotton cloth and store in a cool place. For colds,flus, fevers and infectious diseases take one teaspoon of the oil every hour. Four earaches,insert a few drops in the ear with wad of cotton. For aches,sprains and minor skin disorders rub the oil directly on the affected area. Prepare syrup of garlic by placing one pound of peeled minced garlic in a wade mouthed two quart jar and almost fill the jar with equal part of apple cider vinegar and distilled water. Cover and let stand in a warm place for four days,shaking a few times a day. Strain and,with pressure,filter the mixture through a muslin or linen cloth. Add one cup of honey and stir until thoroughly mixed. Store in a cool place. For coughs,cold,sore throats,bronchial congestion,high or low blood pressure,heart weakness and nervous disorders,take one tablespoon of the syrup three times a day before meals.
